ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa on Monday administered the oath to former justices Sardar Tariq Masood and Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel as ad hoc judges of the Supreme Court.

The ad hoc judges were sworn in at a ceremony held at the Supreme Court building.

Judges of the apex court, Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan, representatives of Pakistan Bar Council and Supreme Court Bar Association, law officers and officials of the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan attended the ceremony.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Bar Council through its Directorate of Legal Education (DLE) and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to streamline efforts to uplift the standard and quality of law education.

The MOU aims to enhance collaboration to revamp the syllabus of LLB/LLM in Pakistan along with promoting training of law faculty, as both HEC and PBC undertook to strictly implement the quality assurance criteria in legal education institutions.

Pakistan Bar Council’s DLE Director Barrister Usama Malik and Dr Anwar Gillani, the HEC consultant on quality assurance, signed the MoU in the presence of Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar and HEC Chairman Dr Mukhtar Ahmed.
