BAHAWALPUR: Three dacoity suspects were allegedly killed in an encounter with Elite Force at Madina Chowk on Mailsi Road in Khairpur Tamewali, about 45kms from here on Tuesday night.

According to a police spokesman, three unidentified armed suspects looted valuables from a shop and were fleeing away on a motorcycle when locals informed police about the incident.

Acting swiftly, the police and Elite Force personnel chased the suspect.

He claimed that the suspects opened fire on the Elite Force vehicle which was retaliated, and during the crossfire all the there were killed.

The police found the looted items and a motorcycle near the unidentified suspects’ bodies,

which were shifted to the Khairpur Tamewali THQ Hospital.

The police also registered an FIR (No.704/24) under sections 324, 353, 186, and 427 of the PPC on the complaint of Elite Force in charge Muhammad Sajjad.

GANGS BUSTED: Lodhran police claimed to have busted 22 crime gangs and recovered stolen property and valuables worth about Rs40 million from their 60 arrested members during the last two-and-a-half-months.

At a press conference, Lodhran DPO Kamran Mumtaz said 61 snatched motorcycles and Rs3.7 million were recovered from the suspects’ possession. He said the recovered booty was returned to the owners.

He also claimed that during this period as many as 566 proclaimed offender (POs) and 360 drug traffickers were arrested in the district.

SEALED: A safety team of the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) in a raid sealed a factory, after recovering candies which were found injurious to health.

The PFA team slapped Rs50,000 fine on the owner.
