TAXILA: A man committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan after being unable to pay a hefty electricity bill in Dhoke Sadu area in the limits of Taxila police station on Wednesday, family sources claimed.

According to sources, Malik Tahir, a father of two had been jobless for the past four months and was distressed as the electricity bill’s due date had already passed. This was further exacerbated by heated arguments exchanged with his brothers over the unpaid bill. On Wednesday, Tahir locked himself in a room and took his own life. Later, police handed over the body after autopsy at the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital. Taxila police registered a case and launched further investigation.
