LAHORE: Police killed two alleged robbers in an encounter in Sattukatla on Friday.

An Organised Crime Unit (OCU) team signalled five suspects riding two motorcycles to stop, but the suspects opened fire and fled.

The police chased the suspects and returned fire. Two of the suspects sustained bullet wounds and fell on the ground, while the remaining three escaped.

The injured suspects were taken to a nearby hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

The police have shifted the bodies to the morgue for autopsy and have begun an investigation.

Nawan Kot OCU DSP Rizwan Manzor Cheema identified one of the deceased suspects as Talha Iqbal and said efforts were underway to identify the other suspect.

Mr Cheema said the suspects were involved in a murder and robbery case at a pharmacy in Sattukatla, where they had killed the pharmacy owner and injured two security guards in an attempted robbery.

The police also recovered a rifle from the security guard and two motorcycles from the suspects, which were previously reported stolen in other robbery cases.
