KARACHI: More than 200 medical students from across Karachi descended upon Seaview to take part in a hepatitis awareness walk, with the aim to raise awareness for the lethal illness.

The walk was organised by VFAHT-Sindh and the Infection Prevention and Control Foundation.

The participants of the walk covered a distance of two kilometres, with volunteers representing nine different colleges, including Baqai Medical University, Jinnah Sindh Medical University, Aga Khan University Hospital, Ziauddin University, Jinnah Medical & Dental College, Bahria University Health Sciences Campus, Karachi, Dow University of Health Sciences, Karachi Institute of Medical Sciences and the United Medical & Dental College.

VFAHT volunteers carried posters and placards in an effort to educate the masses on prevention and early detection of hepatitis, drawing the curiosity of passers-by on the subject.

The atmosphere resonated with chants of “Go hepatitis go” and Agahi barhao, hepatitis mitao.

VFAHT President Areeb Arif Khan praised volunteers’ efforts.

The participants also appreciated the Sindh police for providing security and to the volunteers for their enthusiasm and passion in furthering the goal of a healthy, hepatitis free nation.
