KARACHI: The Met Office has forecast moderate to heavy showers in the metropolis on Sunday (today) under a new weather system.

According to an advisory, strong monsoon currents, which are continuously penetrating from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal in most central and southern parts of the country, are set to enter Sindh in the small hours of Sunday morning.

New weather system will last till Monday in Karachi, says Met Office

Under the influence of the new system, moderate to heavy rains, thunderstorm and strong winds are expected in Karachi, it said, adding that the same system would bring moderate to heavy rains in Mithi, Sanghar, Umerkot, Tharparkar, Mirpurkhas, Khairpur, Matiari, Naushahro Feroze, Jamshoro, Thatta, Badin, Chhor, Padidan and several other towns of the province.

A Met official said that the system would likely to cause rains in Karachi until Monday (tomorrow). However, other districts in Sindh may receive showers until Tuesday.

The city, which continued to receive light to moderate showers intermittently throughout Friday, remained mostly dry on Saturday as a few areas received drizzling.

The weather remained pleasant and overcast as maximum temperature recorded was 31.5 degree Celsius with 79 per cent relative humidity.
