GILGIT: Four people died, one was injured and two were found unconscious in various incidents in Gilgit-Baltistan on Saturday, police said.

In the first incident, two veterinary doctors from Skardu were killed and another was injured when their car plunged into Indus River from Karakoram Highway (KKH) in Diamer district.

According to police, the car was heading towards Skardu from Islamabad through the KKH when it fell into a ravine while negotiating a sharp turn near Tangir area of Diamer district.

Police said Dr Shakeel Ahmed and Dr Abid died on the spot while Dr Kashif suffered injuries.

The injured doctor was shifted to Chilas hospital while the two bodies were sent to Skardu for burial.

In another incident, a hotel employee was found dead and his two colleagues unconscious in a hotel in Skardu.

According to police, three employees of a hotel named ‘Axe Mountain View’ located in Hasan Colony near Benazir Chowk in Skardu were found unconscious in their room on Friday.

The hotel staff shifted the unconscious employees to a government hospital where employee, Zaheer Abbas, was pronounced dead while Khadim and Salman, residents of Rondu of Skardu, were unconscious but alive.

Police has taken three owners of the hotel into custody for investigation.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a tourist from Islamabad, identified as Maj Faizan Ikram Raja, lost his life when he slipped from Passu glacier and fell into a stream. Local volunteers and rescue workers managed to recover his body from the stream. The body was dispatched to Islamabad on a government ambulance.
