RAWALPINDI: On the occasion of Police Martyrs Day, a ceremony was held at the Police Lines Headquarters to commemorate the sacrifices of martyred officers and officials.

As many 118 police personnel of Rawalpindi police have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty so far. Regional Police Officer Babar Sarfraz Alpa, City Police Officer Syed Khalid Hamdani, SSP Investigation Zanira Azfar, SP CIA Benish Fatima and other officers along with families of the martyrs participated in the salutation ceremony. The RPO and CPO laid flowers on the memorial and offered Fateha for the martyrs, said a police spokesman.

“We are indebted to them: 1,638 brave officers of Punjab Police sacrificed their lives for their nation and motherland. These martyrs included 118 officers and officials of Rawalpindi Police,” the RPO said.

Those who sacrificed their lives for the country and the nation will always be remembered. He said the martyrs are our pride and our benefactors.

At the end of the ceremony, the RPO, CPO and other officers had dinner with the families of the martyrs at the Altaf Hussain Shaheed Mess.

Quran Khwani and prayers were also offered for the martyrs at the central mosque.
