LARKANA: A group of armed men gunned down a married woman, mother of a child, in Ghulam Ali Khuhawar village late on Sunday night and then went to the adjoining village of Tharo Khan Jagirani to kill a man reportedly to make the double murder seem a karo-kari incident.

Police registered an FIR on behalf of the state under Sections 302, 311, 148, 149 PPC, accusing Sahib Khan Khuhawar and Shakeel Khuhawar of killing Reema Khuhawar, 24, mother of a child, and Ali Mohammad Jagirani, 40. Police arrested the two suspects on Monday, said a spokesman for Larkana SSP.

After police handed over the bodies to the bereaved families, relatives of Ali Muhammad Jagirani staged a sit-in at the SSP Chowk by placing the dead body on the road.

Rehmat Khatoon, mother of the ill-fated man who led the protest, said that the suspects who were seven in number summoned her son to a place and killed him under a premeditated plan.

They had earlier shot dead a woman to give his murder colour of karo-kari, she said.

Villagers in Tharo Khan Jagirani village said that instead of arresting the real killers, police had been deployed around their village. They demanded a fair probe into the double murder and urged authorities to bring real killers to justice.
