TOBA TEK SINGH: A couple and their three relatives were arrested for killing their unmarried daughter for honour in Chak 188-RB, Nallay-Wala Faisalabad on Tuesday.

Complainant Chak Jhumra Station House Officer Ali Ikram said in his FIR, registered under sections 302, 311, 109, 147, and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code, that upon reaching the village after receiving information about the murder of Laiba Naureen, 19, locals informed him that parents Zulfiqar and Nazia along with three others, had first tortured her for insisting on marrying a youth of her choice and then poisoned her to death before burying her.

When the police arrested the five suspects, they confessed to killing her.

MURDERED: A Khanewal municipal committee employee was murdered on Tuesday in Khanewal.

SUSPENDED: A Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) line superintendent and a lineman were suspended from job for scuffling and causing chaos during office hours in Faisalabad’s Tariqabad subdivision office on Tuesday.

A Fesco official said a committee has been set up to investigate the matter.

Line Superintendent Second Mohsin Waqar and Lineman Abdul Majid Iqbal had a fight during office hours, with a video of the incident going viral on social media, causing disgrace to the department. Also, Fesco has eased the process of applying for net metering.

A press release said on Tuesday that previously, applicants in Fesco’s four circles of Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Mianwali and Sargodha applied for net metering in executive engineer offices. Now, applicants from the first and second circles of Faisalabad city have also been allowed to adopt the same procedure instead of filing applications with the Implementation and Regulatory Affairs Department.

A notification issued by First Circle SE Engineer Ameer Khan stated that net metering applications for up to 70kV would be received by EXEN operations, and from 71 to 509kV by SE operations.

Applications for above 501kV will be filed in the office of the chief engineer planning and design.
