TAXILA: Police on Wednesday said that they have resolved the murder case of a 23-year-old Hong Kong national of Pakistani origin whose body was found in cornfields near Bassiya village in the limits of Rango police station of Hazro on July 24.

According to police sources, the murder was the result of an old quarrel between two groups of the Pakistani community living in Hong Kong.

The police said that the victim came on vacation to his native town to meet his grandparents and was going for some work when unknown assailants riddled him with bullets, killing him on the spot.

Later, after an autopsy at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Hazro, police handed over the body to his family.

According to the police spokesperson, the police picked up three suspects. The main suspect had worked in Hong Kong for some time and during interrogation confessed to killing the man due to a quarrel there a few years ago. Police said they also recovered weapons used in the murder.

In another incident, police on Wednesday arrested a shopkeeper for allegedly making obscene gestures to seven-year-old girl in his shop located on General Hospital Road in the limits of Wah Saddar police station.

The victim’s father has reported to the police that his daughter went to the shop of the suspect to buy some groceries where he took the girl inside the shop and allegedly made obscene gestures with the girl.

When the girl returned to her house, she told her parents who subsequently took the girl to the police station. The police registered a case against the suspect and launched further investigation.
