SAHIWAL: A bank officer has reportedly been kidnapped while attempting to recover money lent on interest.

The Farid Town police have registered a kidnap case under section 365 of the Pakistan Penal Code against unidentified people on a complaint by officer’s elder brother Ilyas. Sources said Waqas, of M-Block, Farid Town, works with a private commercial bank.

Waqas had been involved in lending money to others on interest.

According to his family, Waqas left home five days ago to recover money but did not return. His mobile phone was later found switched off.

The family suspects that Waqas had received threats from people connected to his lending activities, which may be linked to his disappearance.
