ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has requested a change of venue for its public gathering scheduled for August 22.

The party seeks a central location rather than the district administration’s proposed site in Tarnol.

The state counsel on Friday informed the Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Arbab Mohammad Tahir that the district administration granted permission to PTI for holding a gathering on August 22 at Tarnol.

PTI leader Shuaib Shaheen informed the court that they were seeking permission for holding a gathering on August 13 at Fatima Jinnah Park or Kashmir Highway. He said that the district administration issued the NOC for the public gathering after much deliberation and litigation.

However, the permission was granted for August 22 and that too in Islamabad’s suburb Tarnol.

Mr Shaheen said that the PTI has no objection to the date proposed by the district administration. However, the party wants the venue to be changed.

He requested the court to issue directions to the district administration to grant permission for holding the public gathering at a venue sought for the August 13 jalsa.

The court issued a notice to the deputy commissioner and adjourned the hearing till next week.
