KARACHI: A suspected robber was shot dead and his accomplice and a passer-by were wounded in an alleged encounter off Superhighway on Friday morning, police said.

The SITE-Superhighway Industrial Area police said that the encounter took place at the W-25 bus terminal and a suspect, later identified as Usman, 33, was killed in an exchange of gunfire.

They said that his accomplice, identified as Ismail Mohammed, was arrested in wounded condition. Passer-by Arshad Ashraf also suffered a bullet wound and was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, a 42-year-old man was shot dead in Quaidabad on Friday morning.

The Shah Latif Town police said that Mohammed Riaz was gunned down by unidentified assailants in Gulistan-i-Society near Murghi Khana.

The police said that investigators were trying to ascertain the exact motive for the killing.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.
