PESHAWAR: The Haripur Central Jail’s administration on Friday launched the jail industries showroom to showcase products made by the inmates.

A statement issued here said the showroom would be open to public to visit and buy products of their choice.

“This facility is part of the government’s policy to make prisoners useful citizens of the society. Thirty per cent of the profit share will be given to the prisoners,” the statement said.

It said that presently the showroom had different furniture items, handicraft, Charsadda chappal, rugs and sports goods, all of which made by prisoners.

It said that the number of products would be increased with the passage of time.

Superintendent Haripur jail Umair Khan thanked all the staff members for successful completion of the project within a short span of time.
