KARACHI: Ahmed Baig moved firmly into contention for a maiden CNS Open Golf Championship title on Saturday when he opened up a four-shot lead with the final 18 holes to play.
Ahmed fired a three-under 69 in the penultimate round to move to 13-under 203 overall, with defending champion Shabbir Iqbal (70) and Mohammad Alam (71) tied for second at 207.
Mohammad Munir is a further three strokes adrift at 210 after returning a 72 with former champion Waheed Baloch (71) occupying fourth at 212.
The best card of the third round came from Mohammad Shehzad, who shot a 66 but finds himself a stroke behind Waheed overall and three ahead of Mohammad Nazir (72) and Mohammad Zubair (73).
