KARACHI: A teenage boy was shot dead in Quaidabad on Saturday evening.

Police said that some friends were sitting at a home in Swati Mohalla near Muhammadi Masjid. They had an argument that led to firing. A bullet hit 18-year-old Zakariya, who died on the spot.

Area SHO Ghulam Husain Pirzada said that the suspects managed to esccape.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.

Man shot dead in ‘encounter’

An Afghan, who along with his accomplices had killed two traders and looted over Rs13.5 million from them a few months ago, was gunned down in an alleged encounter.

DIG-South Syed Asad Raza told a press conference at his office that acting on a tip-off, the police carried out a raid on a house in Ittehad Town. The suspects resorted to firing when they saw the police and in an exchange of gunfire Abdul Rauf, was killed, he added.

The police recovered one pistol, Rs2m cash and one motorcycle from his custody.

Meanwhile, a suspected robber was shot dead by the firing of his own accomplice during an encounter with police in New Karachi on Saturday.

Central SSP Zeeshan Shafiq Siddiqi said that the encounter took place between the police and street criminals in Sector-D-11 near Pakistan Clinic. During an exchange of gunfire, suspect Sabir Mohammed was hit by a bullet fired by his accomplice and died.
