LAHORE: Favourite three-year-old filly Tahira recroded her maiden success on Sunday in the Jashn-e-Azadi Cup which was held to mark the Independence Day celebrations here at the Racecourse.

Ridden by Mohammad Hanif and trained by Rashid Latif, Tahira overpowered front-running bay mare Nazma Queen at the finish line to win the day’s feature event run over 1,000 metres.

Bay colt Deedawar and bay Apple Of My Eye completed the frame in this race, the third of the day.

Earlier rank outsider bay mare Generosity, ridden by Safdar Ali and trained by Mazhar Abbas Kalyar, won the 1,000-metre Independence Day Cup. Generosity defeated favourite colt Luckvir by a short margin.
