ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday summoned the secretaries interior and defence, director general Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and inspector general of the Islamabad Police on a petition seeking recovery of the brothers of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) activist Azhar Mishwani.

IHC Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb was hearing the petition filed by Mishwani’s father.

The petition stated that Azhar’s brothers Mazharul Hassan and Zahoorul Hassan went missing on June 6 and their whereabouts were still not known.

The court was told that the police and other relevant departments could not recover the two brothers despite the direction of the court.

Justice Aurangzeb warned that the court would initiate contempt of court proceeding against the officials concerned over their failure to trace the detenue.

Director Law Islamabad Police Tahir Kazim submitted a report before the IHC stating that the missing brothers were neither in the custody of any police station nor were detained by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).

The report, however, said that the efforts were being made for their recovery.

Justice Aurangzeb then adjourned further hearing till Aug 15.
