TOBA TEK SINGH: A teenage electrician died after an air-conditioner compressor exploded while he was filling it with gas on Tuesday night at a factory located on Jaranwala Road in Faisalabad.

Reports said Abdul Waheed, 17, was critically wounded and died instantly from the blast.

Independence Day was celebrated with traditional zeal and enthusiasm at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF).

A flag-hoisting ceremony was held and students from the Laboratory School performed national songs and a tableau.

UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmed Khan said the country was achieved through great sacrifices and that it was now our responsibility to contribute to its development and prosperity.

Also, as part of the “Plant for Pakistan” Independence Day campaign, 14,000 saplings were planted in Kamalia by students from government and private schools, along with employees from various departments.
