ISLAMABAD: Robbers shot dead a man during a robbery in the area of Shahzad Town on Wednesday, police said.

It was the second such incident in capital in nine days.

The police said that three armed persons broke open a house in Tarlai Kalan at around 4:30am and held up the residents at gunpoint and looted Rs30,000 in cash and a mobile phone.

Robbers opened fire on one of the residents Mohammad Zubair when he put up resistance, the police said, adding that as a result he sustained bullet injury and died on the spot and the robbers escaped, they said, adding that after getting the information the police reached the spot and shifted the body for legal procedure.

On Aug 5, three armed robbers entered Malik Awan Karyana Store and held up the shopkeeper Jamshid Iqbal and his nephew at gunpoint and looted Rs25,000 cash.

They opened fire on Iqbal when he put up resistance which resulted in physical confrontation between him and robbers, they said, adding that during the confrontation, one of the robbers opened fire on him and as a result Iqbal sustained bullet injury and later died.
