DADU, March 28: The Jamshoro district council approved a budget of Rs1.578 billion for the fiscal year 2006-07 at its session held at the office of Kotri Industries and Trade Union Association on Tuesday. District naib nazim Abdul Hameed Buledi presided over the meeting.
District Nazim Malik Asad Sikandar presented the budget of Rs1.578 billion for the year 2006 which was unanimously approved.
Speaking at the budget session, the district nazim said that total expenditure was estimated at Rs1.491 billion hence there would be a surplus of Rs80 million.
He said that when the Dadu district was bifurcated an amount of Rs90 million development fund for Jamshoro district was not released which was utilized in Dadu district which badly hit development works of Jamshoro district.
He said that the matter was also taken up with the provincial finance department and the chief minister.
He assured the members that all closed schools in the district would be opened and such directives were issued to the officials.
He said that major amount of the budget was allocated for health and education sectors.
Council members Jalaluddin, Lala Ayaz, Lala Rehman, Makhdoom Zameer and Syed Imdad Shah discussed the budget and hoped that attention would be paid to education, health, drainage and water supply.
Members of the Sindh Dost Panel, Roshan Buriro and Imam Bux Chehwan staged walk out.
They told reporters that Manjhand taluka was neglected in development schemes.
