KARACHI: Some parts of the city, including its outskirts, received light rain on Saturday under the influence of monsoon currents that are likely to bring about moderate rain / thunderstorm in the city on Sunday (today), the Met department said.

It said the highest amount of rain, 17mm, was recorded in Gulshan-i-Hadeed. The area of Jinnah Terminal recorded 1.8mm, University Road 0.8mm, whereas ‘trace’ was recorded in the old airport area.

The maximum temperature recorded was 32.5 degrees Celsius.

According to the Met department’s advisory, weather in the city is likely to be cloudy with chances of rain/thunderstorm on Sunday.

25 hurt in accident

Around 25 passengers of a bus suffered injuries when the vehicle went out of its driver’s control and fell in a ditch during rain on Superhighway.

The Gadap City police said that the bus, coming from Rahim Yar Khan to Karachi, fell in the ditch near DHA City.

Rescue-1122 official Hassaan Khan told Dawn that their rescue team provided first aid to 15 injured persons and shifted the 10 relatively seriously injured to a nearby private hospital for treatment.

He said that with the help of heavy machinery provided by Frontier Works Organisation (FWO), the bus was taken out of the ditch and handed over to the police.
