DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Two persons died and 17 others sustained injuries when a bus collided with a truck on the Bannu Road near Shorkot area here on Friday.

All the passengers on the bus were pilgrims from Parachinar area of Kurram district, who were going to visit holy sites in Iran and Iraq via Balochistan, and to attend the mourning processions in connection with the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) in Karbala.

A Rescue 1122 spokesman said its teams swiftly arrived at the scene, providing first aid to the injured and shifting them to a nearby hospital. He said the two bodies were later dispatched to their native village for burial.

LOOTED: Armed robbers looted Rs150,000 cash, a motorcycle and two mobile phones from two brothers and their father on the Chashma Road near Sengharr Bridge, a police official said on Friday.

The Saddar police registered a case and started investigation.

Meanwhile, assailants killed a man, 23, in Tirgarh area, a police official said on Friday.

He said Mir Gul Gandapur, 42, told the police that Afzal Khan opened fire at his nephew, Ajab Khan at his (Afzal’s) shop. The motive behind the incident could not be ascertained.
