SAHIWAL: Two children were electrocuted when they touched a 11KV line running over the rooftops of their house in village of 78/5-L, Bunga Hayat Road, on Sunday.
Iqbal, the father of one of the deceased children, Muneeb, said that villagers had repeatedly asked local linemen and Mepco officials to reposition the low-hanging high-voltage lines. However, their requests were ignored.
According to family sources, Salman, aged 14, came into contact with the live wire. Muneeb, aged 12, attempted to rescue him but was also electrocuted. Both children died instantly.
Yousafwala police arrived at the scene, but the family refused a post-mortem examination.
