NAROWAL: A wild monkey panicked people in Niki Gujran village after injuring a resident in an unexpected attack, Rescue 1122 officials said on Sunday.

Rescue 1122 said that the control room received an urgent call reporting a serious injury caused by a monkey bite. The rescue team arrived at the scene where locals said that the wild monkey had entered the village after being displaced by flooding in a nearby rain channel. The animal was seen jumping from house to house, causing fear among the villagers, especially women and children, who quickly took shelter inside their homes.

Mohammad Naseer, local resident, tried to drive the monkey away using a stick, but the animal retaliated, severely injuring him with a bite. Rescue 1122 provided first aid at the scene and then transported Naseer to the government hospital for vaccination and further treatment.

Following the attack, a large group of villagers armed with sticks gathered to confront the monkey. The wild animal eventually fled the village after being chased by the residents.
