DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Commissioner Syed Abdul Jabbar Shah here on Monday said that all resources should be utilised to maintain strict law and order during Chehlum of Imam Husain (RA).

He issued these instructions while presiding over a meeting held at his office to review the arrangements made in connection with the upcoming Chehlum. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Sarah Rehman, DPO Nasir Mehmood, officials of district administration, religious leaders of Sunni and Shia sects and members of the peace committee.

Speaking on this occasion, the commissioner said that the best arrangements and security plans were arranged on 10th ofMuharram, adding, the peace committee had also played an important role in this regard.

He asked the peace committee members to continue their efforts for maintaining peace and order in the area as the local people listen to them and obey their guidelines.

The police officials also briefed the meeting regarding security arrangements made in connection with the upcoming Imam Husain’s Chehlum.

DRUGS, ARMS RECOVERED: Police arrested two outlaws including an absconder and recovered narcotics, cache of arms and ammunition from their possession during different operations.

According to police spokesman, a team of Yarik police station stopped a motorcyclist identified as Hanifullah son of Abdul Rasheed and recovered a Kalashnikov along with five cartridges and a pistol from his possession. The accused was already wanted to police in a criminal case.

Similarly, a team of Cantt police arrested an accused Sufiyan son of Gul Rehman and recovered 450 grams of hashish from him. The accused was also wanted by the police in multiple cases.
