LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday dismissed a NAB’s petition challenging an accountability court’s order to provide former chief minister Parvez Elahi with documents related to an inquiry against him, and imposed a fine as well.
A two-member bench headed by Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh heard the petition by the bureau.
A NAB prosecutor stated that the accountability court ordered the provision of documents, including witness statements, to Elahi.
He pointed out that copies of inquiry documents and statements of the witnesses could not be provided, claiming that the trial court’s order did not comply with the law.
He requested that the accountability court’s order to provide the documents be set aside.
However, the bench found the NAB petition unnecessary and dismissed it with a fine of Rs200,000.
The NAB reference accused Elahi and others of allegedly taking kickbacks in development projects.
