RAWALPINDI: As many as two patients recently tested positive for dengue virus in the city and landed in government-run hospitals in the district.

A total of 52 people so far have been affected with dengue virus in the current season, while no deaths have been reported so far. As many as 45 people went back home after their treatment concluded.

As of right now, 19 patients are admitted to Rawalpindi hospitals, where seven of them are confirmed cases while the dengue serology reports of 12 patients were still awaited.

Of the patients, seven are in Red Crescent Hospital, five are in Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH), two are in District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, three patients are in Kallar Syedan Tehsil Headquarters Hospital and two are in Wah General Hospital Taxila.

Most patients arrived from Chaha Khalsa, Takht Pari, Gangal, Chak Jalaldin and adjoining areas.

On Thursday, dengue larvae were found in more than 99 sites, prompting officials to either seal the areas or issue fines. Officials said that health department teams were continuing indoor and outdoor operations.

Meanwhile, a meeting was held in the deputy commissioner’s office to review the anti-dengue drive in the garrison city.
