SWABI: The Information Technology Centre established in Islamabad as part of the Prime Minister’s High Impact Technology Initiative will impart quality training and skills to the nation’s unemployed educated youth, enabling them to play their due role in the country’s economic progress.

This was stated by Eng Salim Saifullah Khan, President of Society for Promotion of Engineering Sciences and Technology in Pakistan (Soprest), the parent body of Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, while addressing a function at GIK Institute here the other day.

The IT centre has been established in collaboration with GIK Institute, National Vocational and Technical Training Commission and the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training

Eng Saifullah said during his visit to the centre he was briefed by Shakil Durrani, executive director Soprest, on the overall progress and scope of the centre, which will produce professionals.

The Soprest president emphasised the significance of GIK Institute’s role in this initiative as part of its corporate social responsibility, aiming to provide quality training and skills to the unemployed youth.

He said he also met with students, especially girls, acquiring training at the centre, underscoring the importance of empowering women through skill development, which he noted was crucial for the country’s progress and economic prosperity.
