BAJAUR: A policeman was wounded after terrorists attacked a police post in Salarzai tehsil here, police said on Thursday.

A group of terrorists targeted the Gokandaoo post with hand grenades and other small weapons late on Wednesday night, leaving one personnel injured, said an official statement issued by the office of district police officer on Thursday.

The statement, however, claimed that the policemen at the post responded swiftly and thwarted the attack forcing the militants to escape from the area.

The statement said that the condition of the injured policeman, who was shifted to the district headquarters hospital, Khar, for treatment, was out of danger. Police sources told Dawn that it was the second such attack on a police post in the district since Aug 14.

They added that hawaldar Alam Zeb was martyred in the attack on the night of Aug 14 on a post located along a bridge in Haji Lawang area of Khar tehsil.
