LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Saturday granted a 12-day physical remand of a man in police custody in a case of kidnap and murder of a minor girl.

Batapur Police presented the suspect, Kashif Raza, before the court and sought a 30-day remand.

The investigating officer told the court that the police found some bones and blood-stained clothes of the girl on identification by the suspect but police still needed to recover the remaining body parts.

The IO said the suspect kidnapped five-year-old girl Fajar for ransom, strangled her to death, and threw her body in a local forest. He said the suspect lived in front of the girl’s house and was a friend of her father. He said the initial investigation found the suspect guilty of kidnapping the girl for ransom and killing her. The suspect also confessed to his crime, he added.

The IO asked the court to grant a 30-day physical remand of the suspect to complete the investigation.

However, ATC Duty Judge Irfan Haider allowed the physical remand for 12 days and directed the police to produce the suspect again on Sept 5.
