TAXILA: Two persons were killed in separate incidents in Attock on Saturday, police and rescue sources said.

In the first incident, a shopkeeper was shot dead over an old enmity in broad daylight in a busy bazaar in Hazro.

Police sources said Yasir Khan was sitting in his shop when two masked men reached there and opened fire on him.

The assailants managed to escape from the scene on a motorcycle.

Police attributed the killing to an old enmity. Later, Yasir’s body was handed over to his family after autopsy at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Hazro.

Separately, a motorcyclist died after being hit by a speeding dumper on Hassar-Fatehjang Road near Bhattar Interchange in the limits of Hassanabdal police station on Saturday.

Police and rescue sources said 35-year-old Tauqeer Ahmed, a native of Jand, was travelling on his motorcycle when a recklessly-driven dumper knocked him down, killing him on the spot.

Meanwhile, police arrested a suspect who had allegedly stabbed to death his sister-in-law over a domestic dispute in Jameelabad area on Tuesday.

According to a police spokesman, the suspect, Amir Awan, was traced through human and digital intelligence and sent behind bars.
