GUJAR KHAN: Three people of the same family were killed in a road accident in Jhelum on Saturday morning.

According to the FIR registered on the complaint of Zoobia Batool, her brother Adnan Hussain, 32, was travelling on his motorcycle to drop her two sons, Mohammad Ayan, 13, and Mohammad Faizan, 12, at a seminary in Kashmir Colony while she was on a separate motorcycle with her cousin.

She said when they reached Ratiyan on G.T. Road, a speeding mini-truck hit Adnan’s bike from the rear, killing the three on the spot.

According to District Emergency Officer (DEO) Jhelum Engr Saeed Ahmed, when Rescue 1122 reached the spot, the victims were already dead. The bodies were shifted to the District Headquarter Hospital (DHQ) Jhelum for postmortem.

When Jhelum police were contacted by Dawn for comments, they said that the vehicle’s driver had managed to escape from the scene, leaving the mini-truck behind.

Station House Officer (SHO) Kala Gujran police station Asim Mahmood said the vehicle has been taken into custody and efforts were underway to apprehend the suspect.

Meanwhile, a lineman of Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) who had suffered serious injuries after falling from an electricity pole in the Jatli area of Gujar Khan a few days ago, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.

According to details, Ghulam Ahmed had suffered serious injuries after falling from a height while repairing electric lines, apparently due to poor personal safety equipment. He was under treatment at Wapda Hospital in Rawalpindi.
