MIANWALI: A clash between rival sects over a Chehlum procession route in Kalabagh, 30km from here, left 15 people injured in a heavy crossfire on Monday evening.

As per information from Rescue 1122, as many as 15 people with bullet injuries were brought to the Mianwali DHQ Hospital by ambulances. Some of them were in a critical condition.

Tension prevailed for the last few days over the new route of procession and on Sunday night the district administration and members of the District Peace Committee reportedly settled the issue. Unluckily, some miscreants re-ignited the issue which led to an armed clash.

A huge contingent of police from Mianwali along with Rangers personnel rushed to Kalabagh to maintain law and order.
