CHARSADDA: An elder was killed and three others, including a woman, were injured when gunshots rang out during a jirga held in the Nissatta area on Tuesday to resolve a land dispute between relatives.

A complaint, Imdadullah, son of the deceased, Meer Dad Khan, told the police that his relatives, including maternal uncle Gul Rasul, his son Taseer Khan and aunt Saaski Jan from one group and Jan Alam and Gran Alam from the other group gathered at his house to resolve a land dispute.

He said that during the course of the jirga, Jan Alam and Gran Alam got infuriated and opened indiscriminate fire, killing his father, Meer Dad on the spot.

The complainant said that his maternal uncle, Gul Rasul, son Taseer Khan and aunt, identified as the wife of Zahir Shah, were seriously injured. They were shifted to a hospital.

He said that the two attackers fled the area.

The police registered a case and launched further investigation.
