Saddar tehsil will cover Barki, Heir, and Jahman, while Wagah tehsil will comprise Jallo, Bhaseen, and Lakhudair. Ravi tehsil has been formed with Shahdara and Naulakha circles.

Following creation of these new tehsils, the existing tehsils have also been re-adjusted.

“In exercise of power conferred under section 6 of the Punjab Land Revenue Act-1967 and in supersession of all previous notifications/orders in this behalf to the extent of Lahore district, the Governor of Punjab is pleased to order that Lahore district shall be divided into tehsils (subdivisions) with immediate effect,” reads the notification issued by BoR on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the BoR says that Lahore has officially become the largest city in Punjab in terms of number of tehsils (administrative divisions).

“The addition of five new tehsils has brought the total number of tehsils in Lahore to ten. The Chief Minister of Punjab had previously approved the creation of these new tehsils, and following the approval, the Board of Revenue issued the notification,” the spokesperson said in a press release.

She said five assistant commissioners have also been appointed to oversee the new tehsils under the deputy commissioner and commissioner of Lahore.

“The newly created tehsils include Nishtar, Wagah, Iqbal Town, Ravi and Saddar whereas the existing five tehsils are Raiwind, Model Town, Lahore Cantt, Lahore City, and Shalimar,” she added.
