BAHAWALPUR: A woman allegedly took her own life, along with those of her two minor children, by throwing herself in front of a passing train near Dera Nawab railway station, about 30kms from here, on Wednesday.

According to initial police investigations, the woman, later identified as Humaira (30), was frustrated because of family disputes and financial constraints.

The police, quoting eyewitnesses, said that Humaira, along with her seven-year-old son Asad and two-year-old daughter Alina, came to the Lahore-Karachi railway track, near Dera Nawab railway station and threw herself and the children in front of the fast-moving train.

As a result, all three died on the spot.

A police spokesman said the case is being handled by Ahmedpur East police, and the husband of the deceased woman has been taken in custody for investigation.

ELECTROCUTED: A woman, Fazlan Bibi (55), was allegedly electrocuted while switching on a pedestal fan in her house in near Adda Sharifaabad in Bahawalpur on Wednesday, says Rescue 1122.
