BAJAUR: Students of the Government College of Management Sciences, Khar, on Wednesday protested against the withdrawal of police security from their institution and blocked the main road to vehicular traffic.

Scores of students participated in the demonstration held outside of the college’s main gate along the main road.

The participants of the demonstration, which later turned into a sit-in, pointed out that there used to be up to four police personnel in the college to perform security duties.

However, they claimed that the authorities had withdrawn all the police personnel from college some weeks ago owing to unknown reasons.

The protesting students termed the withdrawal of police security totally unjustified and anti-students act by the authorities concerned.

Addressing the protesters, the student leaders described the withdrawal of police from the college an unwise decision in the wake of poor law and order situation in the entire district.

They slammed the district administration for not paying any attention to their genuine demand of providing security to college which forced them to hold a peaceful protest over the issue.

The protesting students opted to end their demonstration following intervention of the senior police officials and announcement of deputing two police personnel at college for security duties.
