ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Federal Education has partnered with National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC) of Ministry of Defense Production to solarise 100 schools in rural Islamabad within the next eight weeks.

“This ambitious project aims to revolutionise the way these schools generate energy, reducing their reliance on fossil fuels and promoting a sustainable future,” says a press release issued by the education ministry.

It said the project aimed at reducing carbon footprint and promoting sustainable energy reduction in carbon emissions and improve access to electricity for students and teachers.

The ministry, while highlighting benefits, stated that it will help enhance learning environment with reliable electricity and contribute to climate change mitigation efforts.

An official of the FDE said under this project schools located in rural areas would be covered.

“Once this project is completed, our schools will have uninterrupted electricity supply and it will be helpful for our students in summer months and for using computer labs,” he said, adding that already many schools of the FDE had solar system.

To a query, he said this project would be completed with funds provided by the federal government.
