SUKKUR: Ghotki police claimed to have arrested the main suspect in the murder case of journalist Muhammad Bachal Ghuniyo and recovered the weapon used in the murder during raids and search operations at different places on Wednesday.

According to police, Ghotki SSP Dr Sumair Noor Channa formed a team consisting of Ubauro DSP Hafiz Abdul Qadir Chachar and others and tasked them to bring the killers to book immediately.

They said the police team raided at different places and arrested the main suspected killer — Shokat, son of Qadir Bakhsh Ghuniyo — and recovered the weapon from his custody.

Muhammad Bachal Ghuniyo was allegedly shot dead by his own relatives on Aug 27, and police on the complaint of his brother lodged a case at Shaheed Deen Muhammad Laghari police station, police said.

They added that the arrested suspect along with his six other accomplices had killed the journalist when he was on a farmland in Noor Shah Area of Rwanti Katcha.
