KARACHI: The medical report of a suspect confirmed that she was under the influence of drugs when she rammed her SUV into a motorcycle and killed a man and his daughter near Karsaz on August 19, police said on Wednesday.

The report of suspect Natasha Danish was issued by the office of the medical examiner of the Sindh Government’s Services Hospital.

“The medical report has confirmed that she was under the influence of the drug methamphetamine,” Inspector General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon told Dawn.

The drug, methamphetamine, is commonly known as crystal meth, or ‘ice’.

Earlier in the day, Karachi police chief Javed Odho told reporters that there was ‘something’ in the medical report of the suspect on the basis which he could say that “she should not have been driving the car on the day the accident took place”.

In his brief media talk during the launching ceremony of an application of Madadgar-15 at the Airport police station, the city police chief was asked about issuance of the suspect’s medical report. He said that investigation was still underway and he did not want to talk about it in “a candid manner at this moment”.

However, he added that some things had emerged which suggested that she should not have been driving the vehicle.

He said investigators would approach medical authorities before reaching a ‘final conclusion’ and would also seek opinion from medical experts.

Earlier, he was informed that with the launching of the Madadgar-15 App, the caller’s location would be traced and the police would respond without any delay to meet any emergency.

The mobile app can be downloaded through Google play store.
