QUETTA: New Balochistan Inspector General of Police Moazzam Jah Ansari on Thursday assumed the charge of his post.

The outgoing IGP, Abdul Khaliq Sheikh, handed over the police flag to Mr Ansari upon his arrival at the Central Police Office at a ceremony symbolising the transfer of command. Senior police officers attended the event.

Mr Ansari is the 36th inspector general of Balochistan. He previously served as the Balochistan IG till 2018. This is his second tenure as the IG of his home province.

Meanwhile, in a farewell address via a video link to all DIGs and DPOs of the province, the outgoing IGP of Balochistan, Mr Sheikh, said that maintaining law and order in the province has always been challenging.

He emphasised that the recent wave of terrorism poses a renewed threat to Balochistan’s peace, and the police have an even greater responsibility during these difficult times.
