BAJAUR: Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) local chapter along with various emergency relief and rehabilitation organisations arranged a joint simulation exercise aimed at improving emergency response here on Thursday.

The simulation exercise, meant to improve preparedness, enhance coordination and linkages among the stakeholders to capacitate volunteers and disaster risk reduction at district level was held at police line in civil colony Khar, said a statement.

According to the statement, the day long joint exercise was arranged in collaboration with the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Police, Rescue 1122, Civil Defence, Al-Khidmat Foundation, District Sports department and other organisations.

During the exercise, the workers and volunteers of the participating organisations showed their talent, skills and conducted search and rescue operations.

The participating organisations have also established mock camps to train their workers and volunteers with the modern ways of first aid to the victims and to distribute food and essential items among the needy people, said the statement issued by PRCS.

The statement said that the participants of exercise also provided first aid to the victims of a mock bomb blast and shifted the injured persons to district headquarters hospital Khar for treatment.

PLANTATION DRIVE: A monsoon tree plantation campaign was launched at the juvenile observation home and child protection bureau.

In compliance with the directives of the Peshawar High Court, the district and sessions court launched tree plantation campaign, said a statement.

According to the statement, District and Sessions Judge Dr Mohammad Amir inaugurated the plantation campaign by planting a sapling. Judges of the district courts, staff and officials of the local forest department and others attended the ceremony.
