SWABI: An unidentified gunman shot dead an official of Peshawar Electric Supply Company and injured two others critically during a dues recovery campaign in Maneri Payyan village here on Thursday, police and rescue officials said.

A Pesco team was visiting the village to recover outstanding bills from various consumers just a kilometre away from Swabi city police station. The team was on its way back when all of a sudden a motorcyclist appeared and opened fire, the police said.

As a result, Kamran Khan hailing from Swabi Khas was killed on the spot while two of his colleagues Hassan Mohammad and Luqman Khan were injured. They were later taken to DHQ hospital where the doctors said that one of them was out of danger while the other was critical.

Residents of the area said that no security personnel accompanied the Pesco officials.

The police are yet to register an FIR.
