HYDERABAD, March 30: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil has said the district government is introducing the telemedicine system to provide advance medical facilities to people.

He was talking to journalists after holding a meeting with the adviser to the Sindh chief minister on information technology and environment at his office here on Wednesday.

He said that under the system, poor people of the district would get medical tests and prescriptions from specialist doctors through telephone calls at the telemedicine centre. He said these facilities would be equivalent to facilities available to people in Karachi and other big cities.

He said the district government was working on a project to interlink all 62 small and big hospitals in the district and computerize their data to ensure efficient health delivery to people.

The nazim said the local government was also considering to interlink district government departments with one another to ensure one-window service to people. He said a feasibility report would be prepared in consultation with the Sindh information technology department soon.

The nazim said the district government was also giving priority to the education sector and, as such, it had established an office for the EDO, IT, in Hyderabad with budgetary allocation of Rs8 million and 40 employees.

He said that keeping in view the importance of information technology in enhancing job opportunities and development activities, the district government had decided to promote the discipline through different means.

He announced that an IT fair would be held in the last week of May. The nazim said the district government had asked different private organizations for beautification of Hyderabad.

FINANCIAL AID: DCO Mohammad Sharif Awan has said a list of 4,800 beneficiaries has been provided to post offices in the district for payment of Rs1,200 each from March 31 under the food support programme of the Baitul Maal.

He was presiding over a meeting of the District Baitul Maal Committee at his camp office here on Tuesday.

He said the payment was being made from the unutilized amount of Rs5.8 million in addition to regular instalment to deserving people.

RECOVERY: The DDO, revenue, Hyderabad, Shahid Abdul Salam, the focal person for collection of property and entertainment tax, has advised people to clear their liabilities within 15 days, failing which legal action will be taken against them.

He was presiding over a meeting of revenue and excise officers at his office.

He said he had established a complaint centre at his office to redress problems of tax payers and advised them to identify irregularities or excesses, if any, being committed.

ARMY RECRUITMENT: The Army Selection and Recruitment Centre, Hyderabad, has announced its mobile recruitment schedule to recruit the youth into the army.

The recruitment team will be available in the Daur Town Committee on April 3, at the Badin Municipal Committee on April 5 and at the Mithi Municipal Committee on April 6.

BISE: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Hyderabad, has notified the schedule for examinations of Higher Secondary Certificate.

The examinations will be held from May 16 to June 3.
