LAHORE: A young girl escaped an armed kidnapping attempt by three suspects on Egerton Road in the jurisdiction of Lytton Road police on Friday.

The suspects were identified as Umair Ayub, his brother Ishaq Ayub and their accomplice Shahzeb Ali.

According to a police official, Umair wanted to marry the girl, but her parents had refused due to his bad character.

On Wednesday, the suspects arrived on two motorcycles with an intent to kidnap her. When the girl raised an alarm, one of the suspects opened fire in an attempt to kill her. She escaped unhurt and local residents managed to overpower the gunmen.

Police took all three suspects into custody.

A case has been registered, and the investigation is underway, the official added.
