RAWALPINDI: A mother of a four-month-old girl, was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband and his brother in the Chakri police area on Friday.

The couple, both deaf and dumb, quarelled with each other as a result of which the wife lost her life while the husband was critically injured.

The injured was taken into custody by police and shifted to District Headquarters Hospital where he was stated to be in critical condition. The police also arrested his brother identified as Hammad. The deceased woman was identified as Nisa Batool, 24, and her husband as Saqib Mehmood, 32.

Mohammad Qadir, a resident of Chak Danyal and elder brother of the deceased, lodged an FIR with the police stating that his sister had married Saqib two years ago. A few days after her marriage, he said her in-laws started mistreating his sister. He said on August 27, his sister had come to her parents’ house in frustration. On Thursday when all the family members had gone out leaving Nisa at home, her husband came and forcibly took her back to his house.

He said on Friday someone informed him that Nisa was struggling for her life and was being shifted to hospital. Mr Qadir said he and his family members reached the hospital and found Nisa dead.

She had wounds on her body and her throat was slit, he said.

Mr Qadir told Dawn that his sister was stabbed to death by her in-laws over domestic issues. However, he said, the actual circumstances would be known only after the police conducted an investigation.
