ISLAMABAD, March 30: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry on Thursday stressed the need for cooperation between bench and bar for quick administration of justice.

He was speaking to a 70-member delegation of the Islamabad Bar Association, which called on him here. Chaudhry Mohammad Ashraf Gujjar, advocate high court, led the delegation.

The chief justice observed that the apex court was fully involved and active in disposal of cases expeditiously and dispensation of justice to the litigant public.

The CJP said it was a matter of great satisfaction that the bar members had started interacting with the judiciary and were extending cooperation to achieve the noble goal of administration of justice which was their common object.

“Thus the system of dispensation of justice is improving day by day, not only at the level of Supreme Court of Pakistan but also at the level of high courts and lower courts,” he said.

Justice Chaudhry said this was the first and foremost duty of the judiciary to deliver justice that needed commitment and dedication. He expressed confidence that in the near future, the nation would recognize judiciary as an efficient institution capable of dispensing justice to the needy.

The chief justice observed that efforts would be made to solve the genuine problems faced by Islamabad Bar Association.

Ashraf Gujjar appreciated the steps taken by the chief justice for provision of justice to the masses and assured full cooperation to the apex court and judiciary at other levels.
