HARIPUR: Rivals killed a man and his son and injured two others after barging into their house in a remote village of Khanpur tehsil here on Friday night, the police said on Saturday.

They said the motive behind the double murder, which took place in New Gali village of Hally union council, was a property dispute.

Khanpur Sub-Divisional Police Officer Uzair Khan quoted Feroz Din, a resident of New Gali village, as saying that he went to bed at around 10pm on Friday along with his wife, Feroza Jan and granddaughter, Fiza Bibi, while his son, Sagheer Ahmed, 45, his wife, Jamila Bibi, 41, their sons Safeer Ahmed, 23, and Adeel Ahmed, 11, went to their bedrooms.

At around 7am on Saturday, according to the complainant, Fiza went to wake her parents up for breakfast, but she found them and her two brothers lying in their beds critically injured.

The police said all of them suffered multiple wounds on their necks and heads caused by some sharp-edged tools.

The injured were shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Khanpur, whose doctors pronounced Sagheer and his son, Safeer as dead, while Sagheer’s wife and their son, Adeel were shifted to the trauma centre, wherefrom they were referred to Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad, in critical condition.
